The history of Sikh Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji

Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji was the seventh guru of Sikhs born in the district of Rupnagar at Kiratpur Sahib in Punjab in 1630. Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji was the son of Baba Gurdita Ji and Mata Nihal Kaur Ji.  He received Guru Di Gaddi after the Sixth master Guru Har Gobind Sahib Ji and his Grandfather on 8 March 1644. Guru Har Rai Ji married to Mata Krishan Kaur Ji who had two sons Baba Ram Rai Ji and Sri Har krishan Sahib Ji. Once Dara Shikuh son of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan visited Guru Sahib and asked for the help in the war against his murderous brother Aurangzeb. Then after Guru’s force not only attained victory but hide the ferry boats on which they had been escaped. Once Guru Har Rai and his force was returning home after the tour of Majha and Malwa region of Punjab, Yagreb Khan son of Mukhlis Khan attacked with thousands of army on the kafila of Guru Sahib. Sikhs attained victory with the few hundred over thousands.
                                               Guru Sahib established the Health Centre in Kiratpur Sahib, Punjab. One day son of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan Dara Shikuh suffered from serious illness with some unknown disease. He knocked almost every door but there was no benefit of it. At last he visited Guru Sahib and asked for the disease, Guru Sahib gave him the ayurvedic medicine from the centre. Dara Shikuh felt heartily thankful after his curing from the disease and offered Guru Sahib a portion of land guru sahib declined it.

The history of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib


Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib was known for Martyrdom for protecting the Sikh faith. He is the ninth Guru of Sikhs. He was born as Tyaga Mal in Amritsar in April, 1621. He was the younger son of the sixth Guru Har Gobind Sahib Ji and Mata Nanki. He received Guru Di Gaddi after Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji. He was also known with the names Baba Bakala, The shield of India, Mighty of the Sword and the True King. The title Mighty of the sword was given by the Sixth Master and his father Guru Harbind Sahib Ji after shown exceptional courage in a battle against Mughals. Baba Ji married to Mata Gujri on 3 February, 1631.
                            Sri Guru Teg Bahadur arrived at Bakala in 1640.He mediated at Bakala for 20 years (1644-1664) and stayed with Mata Gujri and mother Nanki. When Sri Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji was in the last stage of the life and when asked for the next Guru, Baba Ji replied Baba Bakale. Then after, 22 claimed to be Guru, Then Makhan Shah went to Bakala for the search of next Guru there he found Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji and he said Guru ladho re, Guru ladho re means I have found the Guru and I have found the Guru.

                                           He travelled different parts of the country and spread the message of Guru Nanak. It is written in Bachittar Natak –“He protected the janaeu and tilak of the Hindus. It was a great event in the modern ages. For the sake of humankind, he sacrificed himself. He laid down his head but not his creed.

The hitory of Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji


Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji was the eighth of the Sikh Gurus and known for helping Small Pox patients at Delhi. He was born in Rupnagar District at Kiratpur Sahib, Punjab in 1656. Once   it was asked to Guru Sahib that which of his two sons would be the next Guru Guru Har Rai or Guru Ram Rai .Guru Sahib took a small test of judgment, he told Ram Rai and Guru Har Rai to insert a needle in the leg of the bed and recite the Gurbaani, both had done well but the question was who will take the Guru’s Gaddi. When it was asked to the Guru Sahib he answered both was reciting the true lord’s name but the Guru Gaddi will pass to Guru Har Rai. When it was asked to Guru Sahib he told needle going inside the bed was symbolic of softness in the heart of Har Krishan and Ram Rai was rough from the heart.

                         Once Sri Har Krishan Sahib Ji visited Delhi, it was the time when Delhi was suffering from Small Pox. The King of Delhi pleased to Baba Ji to cure the disease.  Baba Ji went to King’s Palace but King’s wife told how could she believe on? She changed the dress of the Queen and became a Dasi. Baba Ji told If god chosen you as a Queen then why u became a Servant. Her eyes filled with tears and she bowed to Guru Har Krishan Sahib. Then, Baba ji cured the small Pox of the people by taking all the disease on him .Baba ji Passed away in a very small age of seven. The famous verse “Sri Har krishan Dhiyaiye jis Dithe Sab Dukh Jaiye” .

The history of Guru Har Gobind Sahib


Guru Har Gobind Sahib was known for building the Akal Takhat. He was the first Guru to engage in warfare and advising the Sikhs to take part in the military training and martial arts. He established Miri- Piri. He was born at Guru Ki Wadali in Amritsar; Punjab in 1595.His predecessor was his Guru and his father Guru Arjan Dev. His successor was his grandson Guru Har Rai. Guru Sahib put on two swords Miri and Piri .Miri indicated the spiritual authority and the Piri indicated the temporal authority. Guru Sahib as the great martial artist and always encouraged people for fitness for physical combat .Guru Sahib had the long military force which includes seven hundred horses and sixty gunners. He had also five hundred well trained warriors for the battle. Guru Har Gobind built the Akal Takhat Sahib, in front of Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar. It is one of five important Takhat including Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib, Takhat Sri Keshgarh Sahib, Takhat Sri Hazur Sahib, Takhat Sri Patna Sahib. Guru Har Gobind founded famous city of Kiratpur in District Amritsar, Punjab. Guru Har Gobind was imprisoned in the Gwalior fort for a year. When other fellows insisted Guru Ji then Baba Ji made 52 chole da kurta and freed 52 fellows. The day was celebrated as Bandhi Chhor Divas in Sikh History.The famous city of Punjab in the Majha region was name after him which he won over from Mughals after defeating them in a battle.



The history of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji Maharaj the last guru of sikhs


Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji Maharaj was the tenth Guru Of Sikhs known for the founder of Khalsa. His childhood name was Gobind Rai, he was born in the capital of Bihar in Patna on 22 December, 1666. He was the warrior, Poet and the great Philosopher. He was the last living Sikh Guru and passed Guru di gaddi to the eternal Guru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. He was the son of the ninth Guru Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji and Mata Gujri. He was the language expert in Sanskrit, Hindi, Punjabi and Persian. He married to Mata Sundri also known Mata Jito and had four sons Baba Ajit Singh, Baba Zorawar Singh Baba Jujhar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh.
                Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji maharaj sent Hukamnama to his followers to gather at Anand Pur Sahib on the day of Vaishaki on 13 April, 1699. On Keshgarh Sahib he addressed the mass, drawing the sword and asked “Hai Koi Sikh Beta Jo Kare Seesh Bheta Byant Seesh Chaiye So jald Jald aaiye “.Then after Daya Ram latterly known as Bhai Daya Singh, Dharam  Das(Bhai Dharam Singh), Himmat Rai(Bhai Himmat Singh), mokham Chand(Bhai Mokham Singh) and Sahib Chand.(Bhai Sahib Singh). He took Amrit Da Batta and prepared Amrit (Nectar).The Five Sikh sacrificed their head to the Guru, and their mothers came and asked Guru Sahib We want our son back, with the voice of their mothers Baba Ji made them alive.

Kangha: A wooden comb.
Kara: An iron or steel bracelet worn on the forearm.
Kirpan: A sword to defend oneself and protect other people.

Kacchera: the cotton made undergarment.

Guru Ram Das was the founder of the famous city of Amritsar in Punjab and the fourth guru of the Sikhs. He was born in the district of Lahore at chuna Mandi, Punjab, Pakistan. He was the successor of Guru Arjan Dev and predecessor of Guru Amar Das. His parents were Hari das and Mata Anup Devi. Guru Ram Das married to Bibi Bhani, the younger daughter of Guru Amar Das.He had three sons Baba Prithi Chand, Baba Mahan Dev and Guru Arjan Dev. Guru Ram Das became Guru and received the Guru Gaddi on 1 september. Guru Ram Das was the author of Lava, the four hymns of the Sikh marriage rites. He was designed the  Harmander Sahib Golden Temple which translates as The Adobe of God . Guru Ram Das said –“One who calls himself a Sikh of the True Guru shall get up early morning and meditate on the Lord's Name. Make effort regularly to cleanse, bathe and dip in the ambrosial pool. Upon Guru's instructions, chant Har, Har singing which, all misdeeds, sins and pains shall go away”. Baba Guru Ram Das Ji’s bani are also part of daily prayers of Sikhs. The histori of Guru Arjan Dev was known for the compilation and installation of Adi Granth “Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji “


Guru Arjan Dev was known for the compilation and installation of Adi Granth “Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji “ and for building the Harmandir Sahib. He was the first Sikh martyr who gave his life for the sake of humanity. He was born on 2 May 1563 at Goindval, Taran Taran.  India.  He was the predecessor of Guru Ram Das and his successor was Guru Hargobind. He is also known as the Fifth Guru Nanak. His parents were Guru Ram Das and Mata Bhani. He wrote the famous Sikh scripture Sukhmani Sahib. In the Mughal dynasty Guru Arjan made to sit on a burning hot Tava and boiling hot sand was poured over his body. Guru Arjan made the Masand system, a group who taught and spread the teachings and lesson of Gurus. A Sikh should offer the 10th percent of his income to the Guru as Dasvand to support the building of Gurudwara Sahib. Guru Arjan Dev compiled to Jyoti Jot at that age of 43 on 16 June 1606 in Lahore, Pakistan.



Guru Angad Dev was the founder of Gurumukhi Script and the second guru of Sikhs after Guru Nanak Dev.


Guru Angad Dev was the founder of Gurumukhi Script and the second guru of Sikhs after Guru Nanak Dev. He was born in 31 March 1504 at Matte Di Sarai in Muktsar, Punjab. His father Pheru Mal was a trader his original name was Lehna.In1520, Guru Angad married to Mata Khivi and had two sons (Baba Dasu and Baba Datu) and two daughters (Bibi Amro and Bibi Anokhi). Guru Angad travelled everywhere and visited religious Centers founded by Baba Nanak for the welfare of humanity.

Before the Gurmukhi language was born it was written in the Mahajani language which was used by Marwar and Punjab regions. There was the proper need of the new Language and the lack of Sounds in Mahajani. Guru Angad created a new born Language later on popular as Gurumukhi which means the language of guru that can attains the true meaning and sense which could not be misinterpreted by each and every reader and suits everyone.


 

The history of Guru Amar Das


Guru Amar Das was known for introducing Anand Karaj and for writing Anand Sahib. He was the successor of Guru Ram Das and the predecessor of Guru Angad Dev. He was born in the district of Amritsar at Basarke Gillan, Punjab. He was the son of Tej Bhan Bhalla, a famous trader, and Mata Lachmi. Guru Amardas married to mata Mansa Devi and had two sons Bhai Mohan and Bhai Mohri and two daughters Bibi Dani and Bibi Bhani. He followed Guru Ka Langar started by the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev. Guru Amar Das died at the age of 72 in Goindval, Punjab .There is the historical Sikh pilgrim at Goindval, lakhs of devotees come every year to get the blessings of Guru Amar Das. Guru Angad gave Guru Gaddi to his successor Guru Ram Das and left the world in the true name of Sacche Patshah.

The history of Gurunanak dev ji and Sikh religion


Guru Nanak Dev ji was the founder of the Sikh religion and the first guru of Sikhs. He was born in 15 April, 1469 at Rai Bhoi ki Talwandi at Nankana Sahib now in Lahore, Pakistan. His parents were Mehta Kalu and Mata Tripta. He had one sister Bibi Nanaki 5 years elder to him. Guru Nanak Dev married to Mata Sulakkhani, daughter of Mul Chand and Chando  Rani in Batala, Punjab. He had two sons Baba Sri Chand and Baba Lakhmi Das. Nanak gave the knowledge of true path of god through popular tradition .His teaching can be understand in three ways.
*Vand Chakko-: Sharing with others who are in need.
*Kirat Karo -: Making a living honestly.
Naam Japo-: Meditating on God's name 
Guru Nanak divine journey is divided into five Udasi -:
·         First Udasi  (1500-1506 AD) It covered Sultanpur, Delhi, Varanasi, Panipat ,Nanakmata, Assam, Eminabad, Pasrur, Sialkot etc.
·         Second Udasi-: (1506-1513 AD) it covered Dhanasri Valley, Sri Lanka etc
·         Third Udasi -: (1514-1518 AD) It covered Kashmir, Sumer Parbat, Nepal, Tibet etc.
·         Fourth Udasi-:  (1519-1521 AD) It covered Mecca and the Arab countries.

·         Fifth Udasi-:  (1523-1524 AD) It covered places in Punjab.
