The history of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib


Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib was known for Martyrdom for protecting the Sikh faith. He is the ninth Guru of Sikhs. He was born as Tyaga Mal in Amritsar in April, 1621. He was the younger son of the sixth Guru Har Gobind Sahib Ji and Mata Nanki. He received Guru Di Gaddi after Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji. He was also known with the names Baba Bakala, The shield of India, Mighty of the Sword and the True King. The title Mighty of the sword was given by the Sixth Master and his father Guru Harbind Sahib Ji after shown exceptional courage in a battle against Mughals. Baba Ji married to Mata Gujri on 3 February, 1631.
                            Sri Guru Teg Bahadur arrived at Bakala in 1640.He mediated at Bakala for 20 years (1644-1664) and stayed with Mata Gujri and mother Nanki. When Sri Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji was in the last stage of the life and when asked for the next Guru, Baba Ji replied Baba Bakale. Then after, 22 claimed to be Guru, Then Makhan Shah went to Bakala for the search of next Guru there he found Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji and he said Guru ladho re, Guru ladho re means I have found the Guru and I have found the Guru.

                                           He travelled different parts of the country and spread the message of Guru Nanak. It is written in Bachittar Natak –“He protected the janaeu and tilak of the Hindus. It was a great event in the modern ages. For the sake of humankind, he sacrificed himself. He laid down his head but not his creed.
