The history of Guru Amar Das


Guru Amar Das was known for introducing Anand Karaj and for writing Anand Sahib. He was the successor of Guru Ram Das and the predecessor of Guru Angad Dev. He was born in the district of Amritsar at Basarke Gillan, Punjab. He was the son of Tej Bhan Bhalla, a famous trader, and Mata Lachmi. Guru Amardas married to mata Mansa Devi and had two sons Bhai Mohan and Bhai Mohri and two daughters Bibi Dani and Bibi Bhani. He followed Guru Ka Langar started by the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev. Guru Amar Das died at the age of 72 in Goindval, Punjab .There is the historical Sikh pilgrim at Goindval, lakhs of devotees come every year to get the blessings of Guru Amar Das. Guru Angad gave Guru Gaddi to his successor Guru Ram Das and left the world in the true name of Sacche Patshah.
