The history of Gurunanak dev ji and Sikh religion


Guru Nanak Dev ji was the founder of the Sikh religion and the first guru of Sikhs. He was born in 15 April, 1469 at Rai Bhoi ki Talwandi at Nankana Sahib now in Lahore, Pakistan. His parents were Mehta Kalu and Mata Tripta. He had one sister Bibi Nanaki 5 years elder to him. Guru Nanak Dev married to Mata Sulakkhani, daughter of Mul Chand and Chando  Rani in Batala, Punjab. He had two sons Baba Sri Chand and Baba Lakhmi Das. Nanak gave the knowledge of true path of god through popular tradition .His teaching can be understand in three ways.
*Vand Chakko-: Sharing with others who are in need.
*Kirat Karo -: Making a living honestly.
Naam Japo-: Meditating on God's name 
Guru Nanak divine journey is divided into five Udasi -:
·         First Udasi  (1500-1506 AD) It covered Sultanpur, Delhi, Varanasi, Panipat ,Nanakmata, Assam, Eminabad, Pasrur, Sialkot etc.
·         Second Udasi-: (1506-1513 AD) it covered Dhanasri Valley, Sri Lanka etc
·         Third Udasi -: (1514-1518 AD) It covered Kashmir, Sumer Parbat, Nepal, Tibet etc.
·         Fourth Udasi-:  (1519-1521 AD) It covered Mecca and the Arab countries.

·         Fifth Udasi-:  (1523-1524 AD) It covered places in Punjab.
