The history of Guru Ram Das was the founder of the famous city of Amritsar in Punjab and the fourth guru of the Sikhs.
Guru Ram Das was the founder of the famous city of
Amritsar in Punjab and the fourth guru of the Sikhs. He was born in the
district of Lahore at chuna Mandi, Punjab, Pakistan. He was the successor of
Guru Arjan Dev and predecessor of Guru Amar Das. His parents were Hari das and
Mata Anup Devi. Guru Ram Das married to Bibi Bhani, the younger daughter of
Guru Amar Das.He had three sons Baba Prithi Chand, Baba Mahan Dev and Guru
Arjan Dev. Guru Ram Das became Guru and received the Guru Gaddi on 1 september.
Guru Ram Das was the author of Lava, the four hymns of the Sikh marriage rites.
He was designed the Harmander Sahib
Golden Temple which translates as The Adobe of God . Guru Ram Das said –“One who calls himself a Sikh
of the True Guru shall get up early morning and meditate on the Lord's Name.
Make effort regularly to cleanse, bathe and dip in the ambrosial pool. Upon
Guru's instructions, chant Har, Har singing which, all misdeeds, sins and pains
shall go away”. Baba Guru Ram Das Ji’s bani are also part of daily prayers of Sikhs. Guru Ram Das
